The Court Of Appeal

The Court of Appeal of Lesotho is the superior court of record in Lesotho. It is established in terms of Section 123 (1) of the Constitution of Lesotho. The Court of Appeal has appellate jurisdiction to hear all the appeals noted against the judgements of the High Court and it holds its sittings in Maseru. The Constitution provides that the Judges of the Court of Appeal include The President of the Court of Appeal, such number of Justices as the Act of Parliament may stipulate, the Chief Justice and Judges of the Court of Appeal ex officio. The Court of Appeal Act in Section 3 (2) provides for the following composition of the Judges of the Court of Appeal; the President of the Court of Appeal, four (4) Judges of Appeal, the Chief Justice and Judges of the High Court ex officio.

The President of the Court of Appeal is the head Court of Appeal of Lesotho. The court is an ad hoc court and has two (2) sittings in a year. The duration and the dates of the sittings of the Court of Appeal are determined by the President. The current President of the Court of Appeal is Dr. Kananelo E. Mosito
